An invitation to become a Friend of St Andrew’s
Will you offer to support the life and work of our church by giving your skills and experience and financial contributions?
St Andrew's is:
- a people of faith and service, committed to the well-being of all the folk in the parish of Gargrave;
- a house of hope and reflection for the whole village community;
- a base for personal and community celebraton and commemorations;
- a place for care and support for those with personal needs; and
- the location of the Gargrave community larder and food-bank
The work and service of St Andrew's costs in terms of the:
- dedication of individual people's time and effort;
- contribution of personal gifts and skills; and
- financial expense of maintaining the life and work and the church building.
The parish has no financial support from the diocese and no endowment income. It is responsible for all the day by day costs and the upkeep of its historic building, and contributes realistically to the cost of ministry. In current terms this amounts to £70,000 each year.
There is a long history in Gargrave of people who recognised the importance of St Andrew's in the life of the village, even though they were not themselves regular members of the worshipping congregation.
The Parochial Church Council is inviting you to share in that tradition by:
- being part of a volunteer resource offering time and skills to help with practical tasks in the life the church offers to the village community and around its buildings; and
- making a regular financial contribution towards the annual costs.
I am willing to be a Friend of St Andrew's!
