Get involved

St Andrew's is a community that's made up of many people. We have smaller groups where people of different ages and stages in life can get together to share life and support one another.

Our safeguarding policy helps us to ensure the safety, wellbeing and flourishing of everyone in our church.

Two babies with musical instruments

The baby and toddler group runs every Wednesday morning at 10am in church. We welcome mums and dads, grandparents and carers - anyone with pre-school children. As well as lots of toys and an interesting church to explore, there's always a cuppa and a listening ear to offer support. Often the Vicar pops in to read a story and in good weather we have fun events in the churchyard, such as a 'Teddy Bears Picnic'. Check out our Facebook group for details or just turn up.

Bell-ringers

St Andrews Church bells

If campanology is your thing, you're in the right place. Our dedicated team practice every Monday evening at 7.45 and often ring for weddings and special events. We are a really friendly team of varying ages and abilities but are always ready to welcome newcomers who wish to give it a try. Alison is our 'Tower Captain', and you may even find us in The Mason's for a post-ringing pint.

We have a very active Heritage Group who meet in church each Tuesday morning at 10am. Delving into local history has revealed some fascinating stories of people from Gargrave over the years. The Group have just published their first book entitled "From Mills to Marching and Back Again: A History of Gargrave 1900-1925. For more information see their website.

People studying the bible

We currently have one Home Group which meets on alternate Monday evenings, but are looking to encourage more. A Christian home group is a great way to grow in your faith and discipleship, sharing your journey with others and finding mutual support and friendship through all of life's struggles. Various activities are enjoyed but there is a focus on learning about God, reading the Bible and praying together. If you would like to know more, do get in touch with Andrew the Vicar.

Coffee Mondays

  • Mondays @ 10am
  • Donation
Mug of coffee and biscuit

With the local tearoom closed on Mondays, it was felt that people really needed somewhere to come for a coffee and a chat. From 10am every Monday morning we serve toasted currant tea-cakes, tea, coffee and buns, but most of all we provide a really warm welcome and a listening ear. Drop in and say hello!

Craft and Chat

  • Tuesdays @ 2pm
  • Free
Balls of wool and reels of cotton

Tuesday afternoons see our merry band of knitters (or whatever craft you're into) meet together to share tips and advice about their creations in the making. Obviously, there is tea and lots of chat and a good deal of laughter. Do drop in. Or drop a stitch...
